A tiefling approached the agents in the realm beneath HQ, and Cassandra recognized him: “Audreth?”

Under the influence of the Flux, which channeled him through eyes turned to inky voids, he declared that the living were not welcome and attacked the agents, calling on Megaera. Defeated and stabilized by Callie, he was restored by a ritual invoking both Pelor and the Great Old One. He explained that he, Rubinia, Mallory and Lorelei had come from the Mountain seeking the source of the Flux, and were ambushed; he warned that the World Tree’s roots were spreading far beyond where they should, creating more Flux points, and shared his memory of Lorelei to guide the search.

Taunted by the Furies for having broken free of their sister’s control, he cast an aura that drew in Vondal and restored Bec from a potted plant to her elf form.

Woke feeling the Great Old One’s eye nearer than ever. Rebuffed by the false Raven Queen, he invited his patron to look upon the place; waking first, he cast off the Flux tentacles and, empowered by Pelor, healed Callie. He recognized that the “Vondal” with them was not Vondal, and was left stunned for a few minutes.

Faded back into reality to recount how he had woken the agents, and that the awake “Vondal” was not Vondal. He explained that his mission had followed Lorelei’s dream into the Flux through a rift beneath the Mountain, five days earlier from his point of view. He sensed malice in the Hornblade, directed elsewhere, and protected the agents with his aura.

Kept his aura up, holding back the Flux that would destroy the agents, even as shadow creatures lashed at him. Revived by Callie’s healing, he brandished Pelor’s symbol and commanded the shadows to begone; Freki threw his cloak over him, and he seemed to fade.

Dragged under the water by shadow creatures, he emerged as a Flux chimera; Cassandra’s divine word separated him from a monster, and Ozborn stabbed him through the heart. Megaera absorbed his soul, then released it.

Freki felt a force within his cloak, symbiotically connected to him, keeping the Flux in Lorelei at bay.
