Callie’s zone of reality revealed that the agents were not in the real Afterworld, but in tunnels beneath SPI HQ, in the heart of the Flux.

At the heart of the Flux tunnels, a divine gate opened onto the true Afterworld, where the other Vondal waited; Vondal found it as wrecked by the Flux as the rest.

Callie sensed that the gate opened onto the real Afterworld where Nerull rules, where souls pass from life to death; Cassandra described it as the Afterworld layer on top of the real layer. The agents confronted Nondal there, then left.
