Democracy is the new religion

I am terrified and disgusted by the growing neoconservative influence in the USA. People have always been angry, hateful creatures to some extent, especially in mobs or when attacked within their own territory. But I never imagined that our country’s leaders would embrace those vile traits as strongly as they have.

Just for giggles, let’s take a look at why neocons are hypocritical assholes who are all going to Hell (in the unlikely event that one of those actually exists).

LewRockwell.com’s Are you a Neocon? quiz describes neoconservatives thusly: “A ‘neocon’ is more inclined than other conservatives toward vigorous government in the service of the goals of traditional morality and pro-business policies. Tends to favor a very strong foreign policy of America as well.”

Doesn’t necessarily sound so bad, on the surface, assuming they don’t go too far and violate the Constitution with the whole “enforced morality” thing.

To be thorough, let’s check out another source, Christian Science Monitor. Here’s what they have to say: “‘Neocons’ believe that the United States should not be ashamed to use its unrivaled power – forcefully if necessary – to promote its values around the world. Some even speak of the need to cultivate a US empire. Neoconservatives believe modern threats facing the US can no longer be reliably contained and therefore must be prevented, sometimes through preemptive military action.”

(CSMonitor also has a Neocon quiz.)

These people have proudly proclaimed that we should preemptively invade other countries with governmental, economic and/or belief systems with which we don’t agree, destroy those systems, and forcibly install our own, using any necessary military force, both to protect US interests and to spread our enlightened glory throughout the world.

The bottom line is that neocon imperialism is not about helping anyone else – it’s about fear. It is a modern-day Crusade, a holy war fought under the banners of democracy and Christianity, but by its very nature betrays those ideals.

“Modern globalization
coupled with condemnations
unnecessary death
matador corporations
puppeting your frustrations with a blinded flag
manufacturing consent is the name of the game
the bottom line is money and nobody gives a fuck
4,000 hungry children leave us per hour from starvation
while billions are spent creating death showers”
