I don’t have much of general interest to post; however, here are some miscellaneous personal updates. After all, this wouldn’t be a true LJ if I didn’t ramble on about my personal life occasionally!
- I have decided to name my PVR box “Juggernaut” instead of “Minion III” (although “Minion III” may appear as part of the logo on the side of the case). I will be building the machine next month, as well as upgrading my girlfriend’s machine, with her old Athlon Thunderbird 1.2 GHz going to my mom.
- I have AAAed a couple of Paramount (7-foot) Heavy songs in DDR Extreme now, gotten 1 away from AAAing an Exorbitant (8-foot) song, and AAed some tough MAX (10-foot) songs. Overall, my AA project is more than half done. Go me!
- I have acquired a widescreen LCD front projector in the form of a Sony VPL-HS20. It has been ceiling mounted in my basement with the help of my friend Ziffy, who also convinced me to redo my electronics layout so that everything is in the back next to the couch. My amazingly talented brother assisted me in the construction of a simple 96x54 inch screen (the design for which I stole from here). It turned out beautifully. After switching my cabling over to S-video wherever possible, DVDs are mind-blowingly gorgeous (especially the staple of home theater testing, “Monsters, Inc.”). I was thinking about taking some pictures and posting them, but that would definitely be over the line.
- Oh yeah, there is one thing of general interest to the politically inclined: the Political Compass. It provides a test that analyzes your political inclinations on both an economic left/right scale and a social authoritarian/libertarian scale. (I scored -2.1 left, -4.2 libertarian.)
