Isis’s former anchor, unhappy and unsafe in the village, who confided in Cal that Isis had been corrupted by the white crane tattoo, that Peregrine Shackleton was an enthusiastic bearer, and that she wanted the tattoo gone. She thought she might ask to leave the village without raising suspicion.

Came with the agents to Grohnea’s cottage. Grohnea agreed she could remove Sissae’s white crane tattoo, and Sissae chose to stay with Grohnea while the agents went to the Storm Stables, though she seemed to dislike her.

When Grohnea tried to remove her white crane tattoo, a tripwire inside it triggered a bloom curse, covering her in vines and flowers, its central flower growing from her heart. Vondal stopped her heart to end the curse; as Grohnea plucked the flowers, the agents heard memories: “A gift from a benefactor,” and “I’m going to let the vortex think it’s still controlling me.” Grohnea’s wish restored her to life, though she remained unconscious.
