The Book of the Dead, believed to be one of eight divine relics somehow central to the integrity of reality itself. Anything which touches it is cursed by (un?)death. Naming a creature and writing its name in the book dooms them to die.
Dominic Tremere had found it in Arallu forty years earlier, and kept it locked in his vault, studying it for a cure to the condition it had inflicted on him. When the agents opened the vault, the book was gone: the only clue was smudged chalk marks on the lectern, resembling a small teleportation circle.

Euryale revealed she had traded the book to the ex-druid Isis Ra’ksh, in exchange for a potion to restore her humanity.

Stolen by Isis Raksh and currently pursued by the warforged R. Martine Andrews in the Deepwood.

Tybalt sent word that the Book had been found on the forest floor, and that the Warforged was searching the area.

Tybalt reported it safe in the royal vault, away from the Queen, and told the agents to leave it alone. Isis said its corruption had grown a monster inside her that had controlled her for the past month.

Recovered by elven scouts and locked in the royal treasury, encased in translucent crystal, which Ozborn split with the Hornblade. With Lorissa Stormseeker’s help, the agents aided Sartus Morningdew in invoking a miracle, the pinnacle of mortal magic, to erase the Book’s writings and cleanse its corruption at the source; Callie contributed three spell slots.

Phoebe sensed its cleansing was incomplete. In the throne room, a page torn from it made the arrow that destroyed Zuggtmoy’s ooze, and Ozborn tried to destroy it with the Hornblade, but Freki took the blow. Celes found a tiny gem of evil still in it, and Lorissa’s remove curse left it, she believed, fully cleansed.

Invictus revealed that Iapetus created it to save Cronus, and that he had bound his own soul to it. Bec theorized that it was his phylactery, so that cleansing it pushed his soul out, perhaps into a living body; its cleansing had also cleansed the Celestial Hand.
