case17

An elderly goliath shaman who speaks with the spirits of ancient giant-bears, and can manifest a great direbear spirit to protect those around him. He believes the Ordning has disrupted the natural order, which drew him to Rhyzophus’s cult at the Storm Stables, though he never cared for Rhyzophus himself.

After the cult’s fall, he swore allegiance to Cal along with the surviving cultists, and joined their quest of redemption to free the halflings of Xaryuvia.

Chronicle

17e07

An elderly goliath with piercing blue eyes, draped in a polar bear skin, who watched Cal’s show of force at the Storm Stables neither angry nor afraid. Cal recognized him from an encounter in the tundra years before, when Ulgrim fought in a calm, flowing style and spoke of nature and balance. He had joined Ordning’s Downfall because he believes the Ordning violates the natural order, not out of loyalty to Rhyzophus; he admitted his only crime was treason, suggesting a just punishment would be a task that should mean death, save by extraordinary luck or valor.

Visited Rhyzophus’s chamber with Bec and Freki, appalled at the giants’ mummified, de-souled bodies; his direbear spirit manifested, and, liking the agents, softened his disapproval of the soul larvae. He objected to feeding the giants to the behir brood mother, urged them back to the path of honor, and administered their oath of allegiance to Cal.

Wrapped the infected Ozborn in a protective cocoon from his bear spirit, but admitted the force within him was stronger than any he had seen. He proposed seeking out Theia, the Titan of Brilliant Vision, surprised when Cal agreed at once despite the risk of Hyperion’s wrath.
