| case | 17 |
A cult of giants and goliaths who resented their place in the Ordning, the caste structure of giant society, gathered by the exiled cloud giant Rhyzophus. They seized the Storm Stables, where the storm giants breed their behir mounts, and warded them against storm giants. Rhyzophus promised his followers monstrous creatures, bred from corrupted behir eggs in an ancient chamber beneath the Stables, with which to overthrow the giant hierarchy, but was in it for his own power.
The agents broke the cult in Case 17, at Grohnea’s behest and with Hyperion’s blessing. Its surviving members swore allegiance to Cal, and set out to redeem their honor by freeing the halflings of Xaryuvia.

Chronicle
- 17e02
Grohnea told the agents of the cult: malcontents, especially magical ones, led by the exiled cloud giant Rhyzophus, who had seized the Storm Stables and warded them against storm giants, plotting rebellion against the giant ruling class. She sent the agents to harvest soul larvae from its leaders.
- 17e04
Kavaki, asked to join, had gone along to stay alive, suspecting Rhyzophus sought only his own power. She believed Rhyzophus had ensorcelled many of its members, and that those unaffected were killed: perhaps the exploded giants near the entrance.
- 17e06
The agents ambushed Rhyzophus and his lieutenants in his hot spring chamber; Verthandi, Skalfang and Rhyzophus fell, and the twin rockspeakers were defeated.
- 17e07
Cowed by Cal, who displayed Rhyzophus’s head and killed the challenger Thok, the surviving cultists bowed to him as the son of Hyperion, and awaited judgment.
- 17e08
The behir brood mother, freed, ate several hill giant cultists. The survivors swore allegiance to Cal and accepted a quest of redemption: to free the halflings of Xaryuvia from the beholders that keep them as the vampires’ food.
