The agents delve into freshly discovered tunnels beneath SPI HQ to rescue members of a failed expedition into the Flux.
When screams were heard from beneath SPI HQ, Mallory sent a full team down a newly discovered trapdoor into a twisted composite planar layer where the Flux was leaking reality corruption through the roots of the World Tree. The agents found the tunnels crawling with Flux-corrupted entities—including two of the three Fury sisters merged with shadow demons into a Demogorgon—and confronted a mysterious figure called the White Crane, who Vondal feared to be an alternate or future version of himself, who disclosed that his purpose there was to seize the power of death itself from within the Afterworld. With the aid of the Raven Queen, the party rescued both Audreth and Lorelei Nocturne from their Flux-induced imprisonment, defeated the monstrous Megaera, and expelled the White Crane, who was only present in astrally projected form. The team returned to HQ scarred by exposure and physically marked by Flux corruption, while the changeling double of Mallory—Eeoram Sufur—remained unaccounted for on the other side of the closed gate.
